Download the 9F VPN App for iPhone and Android
Short answer
9F VPN is a phone VPN app for iOS and Android. On iPhone, install it from the App Store; on Android, download it from 9fvpn.com/download (it is not on Google Play). Open it, accept the privacy notice and connect: the free lines need no account.
Step by step
-
Get the app from the official source
On iPhone or iPad, open the 9F VPN page on the App Store and tap Get. On Android, open https://9fvpn.com/download in your phone's browser and download the app there.
-
Choose your language
Open the app. On the "Welcome to 9F VPN" screen, pick your language and tap "Get Started".
-
Accept the privacy notice
Read the "Your Privacy Matters" screen and tap "I Agree & Continue".
-
Connect and allow the VPN configuration
On the "Home" tab, start the connection. The first time, your phone asks whether 9F VPN may set up a VPN connection. Allow it; without that permission no VPN app can route your traffic.
-
Check the status
The status changes from "Not Connected" to "Connecting..." and then "Secured".
9F VPN is a VPN app for iOS and Android. iPhone and iPad users install it from the App Store; Android users download it from 9fvpn.com/download, because the app is not on Google Play. After a short setup you can connect to the free lines without creating an account.
VPN app link download: where to get the official app
These are the official download links for 9F VPN:
- VPN for iPhone download (and iPad): the App Store listing. It needs iOS 16.0 or later. On iPad it runs as the iPhone version, without a layout made for the larger screen, but every feature works the same.
- Android: the download page at https://9fvpn.com/download. Open it in your phone’s browser and install the file from there. Your phone may ask you to allow installs from your browser first; that is a normal Android prompt for apps that do not come from Google Play.
If another website, a forum post or a group chat offers a “9F VPN” file, skip it. A modified VPN app can see everything you send through it, so the source matters more for a VPN than for almost any other app.
VPN App Store search: how to recognize the right listing
Searching “VPN” in the App Store returns a long list of apps with similar names. The real one is called 9F VPN and is published by 9F Technologies LLC. The easiest way to land on it is the App Store link on 9fvpn.com rather than the search box.
VPN app install and 9F VPN setup
Once the install finishes, setup takes only a few steps. The screen and button names below are the app’s exact English labels:
- Open the app. On “Welcome to 9F VPN”, choose your language and tap “Get Started”. The app is available in English, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Burmese, and Thai.
- On “Your Privacy Matters”, read the summary and tap “I Agree & Continue”.
- On the “Home” tab, start the connection. The first time, your phone asks for permission to add a VPN configuration. Allow it.
- Watch the status: “Not Connected” turns into “Connecting…” and then “Secured”. Your phone’s traffic now goes through 9F VPN.
To pick a line yourself, open the “Servers” tab. “Auto-Select Optimal Server” lets the app choose, and lines marked “Free Server” are the ones you can use without VIP. The app can also switch lines for you automatically.
There are four connection modes: Smart Turbo, 4K Streaming, Low Latency, and Privacy Shield. Each name says what it is tuned for; if you are unsure, start with “Smart Turbo”.
What the free plan includes, and where it stops
A download gets you the free plan straight away (for how free VPNs compare in general, see our free VPN guide):
- Free lines in Nuremberg and Los Angeles (Germany and the United States).
- 2 GB of high-speed data per day. After that the app keeps working in Slow Mode, at about 2 Mbps per connection, which is fine for messages and light browsing but not for video.
- The daily allowance resets at 00:00 UTC+6:30.
- No sign-up and no ads.
VIP adds lines in Singapore, Hong Kong, Japan, Thailand, and the United States, has no daily data cap and covers up to 5 devices. On the App Store it costs $2.99 a month or $19.99 a year (auto-renewing; the price shown in your country may differ). On Android you can also pay for VIP on 9fvpn.com with KBZPay, WavePay, AYA Pay, and USDT (TRC20); these web plans are one-time (no auto-renew).
Is it a fast VPN download?
As with any app, how long the download takes depends on your connection. How fast the VPN feels afterwards comes down to your own network, the distance to the line you pick and how busy it is, so we don’t promise a speed. Practical tips: choose the line closest to you, try “Low Latency” for games and calls, and remember that free lines slow down once the daily high-speed allowance is used up.
VPN for phone only: no desktop app, extension or proxy settings
9F VPN is a mobile app. There is no version for Mac or Windows, no browser extension and no “VPN online” web version either. If you see a “9F VPN extension” in a browser store, it is not from us.
It is also not a proxy you set up by hand. You don’t copy server addresses or proxy settings into your phone: the app manages the connection itself and routes your phone’s traffic through the line you chose.
Do I need an account?
No. Accounts are optional. If you want to sign in, the iPhone app offers Apple, Google, Telegram, and email; the Android app offers Google, Telegram, and email. Google sign-in on Android needs Google Play services on the phone, so on phones without them, use Telegram or email instead.
Privacy in short
From our privacy policy: “We do not log the websites you visit, your DNS queries, or the content of your traffic, and we do not store your IP address. We do not sell your data and the Service contains no advertising or tracking SDKs.” Read the full policy before you subscribe.
When the download or connection does not work
- Android says the file can’t be installed: make sure the download finished, then allow installs from your browser when Android asks. Download again from https://9fvpn.com/download if the file seems broken.
- The App Store says the app isn’t available: your device may be running a version older than iOS 16.0, or the app may not be offered in your App Store country.
- Stuck on “Connecting…”: switch between Wi-Fi and mobile data, then try another line from “Servers”.
- Connected but very slow on a free line: you have probably used today’s high-speed allowance. It comes back after the reset at 00:00 UTC+6:30.

Frequently asked questions
Is 9F VPN free to download?
Yes. Downloading costs nothing, and the free lines in Germany and the United States work without an account or payment. They give you 2 GB of high-speed data per day, after which the connection drops to Slow Mode until the daily reset.
Why can't I find 9F VPN on Google Play?
The Android app is not listed on Google Play. The official Android download is at https://9fvpn.com/download. Avoid copies offered on other websites or in file-sharing groups, because you cannot check what has been changed in them.
Is there a 9F VPN app for Mac, Windows or a browser extension?
No. 9F VPN is only available on iOS and Android (phones and iPad). There is no desktop app and no browser extension, so any download claiming to be one is not ours.
Do I need to create an account before I can connect?
No. Signing in is optional. You can connect to the free lines right after setup and sign in later if you want to. The sign-in options on iPhone are Apple, Google, Telegram, and email; on Android they are Google, Telegram, and email.
What is the latest version of 9F VPN?
The current version is 2.3.1 on iPhone and 2.3.1 on Android. On iPhone, updates come through the App Store; on Android, update by downloading the newest version from 9fvpn.com/download.
Is there a VPN app in Tamil?
Not from us. 9F VPN is available in English, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Burmese, and Thai. Tamil is not one of them, so Tamil speakers can set it up in English using the exact button names in this guide.
Can I use 9F VPN online, without installing an app?
No. There is no web version: the VPN only works through the app on iOS and Android. The website 9fvpn.com is where you find the download links, the privacy policy and VIP payment on Android.
Is 9 VPN the same app as 9F VPN?
If you searched for "9 VPN", you were most likely looking for 9F VPN, made by 9F Technologies LLC. Check the developer name on the App Store and the website address 9fvpn.com before you install.
